Educator Trek is a boutique teacher staffing and credentialing support agency based in Los Angeles that specializes in K-12 public schools. We creatively leverage California-specific credentialing expertise to expand and diversify the teacher candidate pipeline locally. We do this by empowering teachers to navigate the credentialing terrain, thus bolstering the teacher talent pool for urban schools.
Mirla Urzua
Chief Executive Officer
Founded in 2023 by Mirla Urzua, Chief Executive Officer, to provide teacher candidates with the information and coaching she wished her brother had when he started teaching in 2016 as a middle school science teacher. The lack of credentialing-related support from his employer led to her brother exiting teaching two years later. Educator Trek’s driven to not have that happen to other new teachers!
Mirla Urzua was a second grade teacher in LAUSD and has 15+ years experience in teacher recruitment, certification and onboarding. Both her parents are retired public school teachers who started their education careers in Mexico and became certified teachers in California thanks to alternative credentialing routes.
